Abstract

Technology education have been defined as a continuous process of unique education and training imparted in individuals for them to obtain socio-economic self-reliance. One key essence of technology education is self-sustenance and cultural development. This kind of paper takes a cursory glance at the factors germane to functional technology education and its significance for nationwide development, by examining the concepts of technology education, national creation, infrastructure and goals of technology education. The newspaper goes further more to asses the development status of Nigeria, the relevant of infrastructure in the provision of viable technology education and several areas along policies, techniques, attitudes, and sensitization from the public toward imbibing technology education that could foster countrywide development.

Advantages

The basis of Nigeria's viewpoint of education is the incorporation of the individual to a sound and successful citizen, these kinds of a beliefs as articulated in the Countrywide Policy about Education (Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2004). The goal of nationwide development is usually hardly realizable without technology, which is a vehicle for the acquisition of appropriate expertise, skills, skills and expertise of the two mental and physical nature. This is tools for the to live in his society, and acquire a relevant and well-balanced knowledge of details of local and world phenomena.

The etymology of technology is via Greek expression ‘tekhne', which in turn refers to a form of art or art, and ‘logia' which means area of study. Easilly defined, technology is known as a science of crafting. Collins English Book (2005, pg. 1675) defines technology while the application of practical or physical sciences to industry or perhaps commerce, the methods, theory and practices governing such application and the total knowledge and skills offered to any individual society. Education, as identified by Adesina, Fagbamiye and Talabi (1985) is a device for the integration of the individuals effectively in a society to allow them achieve self interpersonal, economic, political, scientific, social and scientific progress.

Right now, in the era of globalization, the developing importance of trans-border education provisions particularly, in the area of technology is pretty understandable. Generally, stakeholders are anxious to determine that language schools deliver what they should deliver and that the actual deliver makes desirable effects. These desired outcomes consist of, among others, within structures, attitudes and establishments as well as the speed of monetary growth, the reduction of inequality and eradication of absolute lower income.

Consequently, in addressing the void of national expansion vis-Г -vis technology education, it can be of tremendous necessity to demonstrate the comprehension of the sensation development as well as to harness the indices of development just before we can make a decision what we check for in a created, under-developed, growing nation etc.

The Concept of Technology Education

In accordance to Adeogun (2004), Ogunranti (1988) and Ukeje (1991), technology is the application of science and scientific knowledge to help make the world more efficient using professional methods.
